Frederick County is a county located in the state of Maryland. Like other outlying sections of the Baltimore-Washington area, Frederick County has undergone considerable suburbanization in recent decades. Nevertheless, it remains a largely rural county with much open land, including farms and undeveloped mountainsides.

Frederick County is home to Catoctin Mountain Park and Frederick Municipal Forest. Frederick County is also home to Camp David, the country retreat for the President of the United States.
